Keeping your Prihoda Fabric Ducting Clean and Efficient

Cleaning and maintaining Prihoda fabric ducts doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. In fact, compared to metal ductwork, textile ducts are often easier to handle. They can be demounted, washed in standard commercial machines, and quickly reinstalled to maintain both aesthetics and performance.

But how often should you clean them, and why? It depends on a few key factors:

  1. Dust Inside the Duct
Although it doesn’t happen often, dust can block airflow, especially if the duct has micro-perforations. This is a rare case. If the airflow seems weak, you may need to turn the duct inside out, vacuum it, and then give it a proper wash.

  2. Visible Dirt on the Outside
Sometimes dust sticks to the outside of the duct, usually near laser-cut perforations. While this does not usually affect performance, it might look no longer aesthetic. The duct can be wiped down, vacuumed or removed and washed depending upon the internal level of dust build-up.

  3. Strict Hygiene Requirements
Places like food production areas or cleanrooms require more frequent cleaning to meet their hygiene rules—often on a set schedule. This doesn’t always mean there is visible dirt or poor performance; it’s just a standard part of their sanitizing process.

All our ducting&diffusers are made from high quality and highly resistant materials without natural fibre additives. The exact material specifications can be found in your technical documentation. Before washing, be sure to remove any fixed parts, such as arcs, tensioning systems, or tires, to avoid damage and to let the fabric move freely in the washing machine. Then, just follow the washing label sewn into each section—these guidelines ensure you maintain the look, performance, and lifespan of your ducts.

Fully Washable for a Healthier Indoor Environment

Prihoda fabric ductin offer a major advantage over metal: they can be completely laundered, inside and out. Over time, even the best-designed duct system can accumulate dust and microorganisms that contribute to “sick building syndrome.” By fully washing the entire duct, you remove potential contaminants on both the interior and exterior, helping maintain a healthier indoor environment.

A Practical Approach to Long-Term Maintenance

In many cases, you’ll know it’s time for cleaning if:

  • Airflow has decreased or become uneven.
  • You spot visible dirt or staining on the duct.
  • Your industry requires regular cleaning for hygienic reasons.

By following these simple guidelines, you’ll keep your Prihoda fabric ducts running at their best while avoiding the high costs and inconvenience often associated with traditional metal ducts. Over the long term, routine checks and occasional washes will extend your duct’s lifespan, maintain optimal air distribution, and keep your environment looking aesthetic.
