Prihoda ajakiri
Prihoda new installation at Therme Bucuresti, Romania
When you step into Therme București, one of Europe’s leading water parks, the first thing you’ll notice is an impressive cosmic artwork spreading across the ceiling. Galaxies, stars, and explosions of color captivate your gaze instantly. But this spectacle is more than aesthetic; it’s part of an innovative solution to a very practical problem – airflow.
Poor airflow is a technical problem, not a minor discomfort
Originally, the area was ventilated using metal ducts with grilles. While they fulfilled the basic requirement of moving air, they caused turbulent flow and concentrated drafts – an inefficient and uncomfortable outcome in a space where people stand still and are often wet. This setup was not aligned with good HVAC practice for high-humidity environments.
Precision-engineered textile diffusers change the game
Therme chose to replace the system with custom Prihoda fabric ducting. The textile diffusers were designed to ensure uniform, low-velocity air distribution across the entire space. Thanks to computational airflow design and precise dimensioning, the new solution eliminated localized draughts and created a thermally comfortable environment for waiting visitors. The ducts are also lightweight, easy to maintain, and resistant to humidity – an important factor in pool-adjacent zones.
Visual integration as part of system design
HVAC shouldn’t interrupt architecture – it should work with it. At Therme, the entrance to the slides features a large-scale cosmic mural. Using Prihoda ART, the textile ducts were printed with the same visual motif, allowing them to visually merge with the space. The ducts became an architectural element, not a distraction.
Function and aesthetics, aligned
With the new fabric diffuser system, Therme achieved both thermal comfort and visual harmony. No more cold spots. No more visible hardware clashing with the design. Just effective, engineered airflow doing its job – quietly, efficiently, and in style.
